Valencia CF to face Real Oviedo again after 24 years

With the LALIGA EA SPORTS promotion playoffs now concluded, Valencia CF knows all its new opponents for the upcoming season in Spain’s top-flight competition. The Valencian side will face Levante UD, Elche CF, and Real Oviedo.

Familiar faces: Levante UD and Elche CF

Levante UD returns to LALIGA EA SPORTS after a spell in LALIGA HYPERMOTION, having won the Segunda División title with 79 points from 42 matches. The new season will see another edition of the Valencia city derby. Historically, according to Ciberche data, Valencia CF has won 89 matches (59.73%), drawn 28 (18.79%), and lost 32 (21.48%) against the ‘granota’ side. The player with the most appearances in this fixture is Rino Costa with 26 matches, while the top scorer is Arturo Montes with 26 goals.

Elche CF is another promoted team for the new LALIGA EA SPORTS campaign. The side from Elche finished second in the LALIGA HYPERMOTION standings with 77 points from 42 games. Valencia CF last faced Elche CF in April 2023, with a strong away fan presence at the Martínez Valero helping secure a key victory for Valencia in the course of that season.

24 years later, Real Oviedo returns to the top flight

Real Oviedo returns to LALIGA EA SPORTS after 24 years in LALIGA HYPERMOTION, having beaten CD Mirandés in the playoff final to secure promotion. Santi Cazorla was a standout figure for the Asturian side. The most recent match between Valencia CF and Oviedo was on April 22, 2001, at the Carlos Tartiere, ending in a goalless draw. Notable players who have represented both clubs include Vicente Engonga, Xabier Eskurza, and Míchel Herrero, with more recent names like Koba Koindredi and Nacho Vidal also making appearances for both sides.
