The Valencia CF player talks after Matchday 5
Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Olympiacos FC for the signing of Pablo Maffeo.
The Sant Joan Despí-born footballer (12/07/1997) joins on a season-long loan, with Valencia CF holding an option to sign him on a permanent basis for a further two seasons.
Maffeo, who began a new chapter in Greece this summer following five seasons with RCD Mallorca, arrives at Mestalla to bring pace, energy and attacking depth to Valencia CF’s right-back position.
At 29 years of age, he has extensive experience, having made 294 official appearances throughout his career. Having come through the RCD Espanyol academy, he joined Manchester City’s youth setup at the age of 15 and made his first-team debut in 2016. He subsequently represented clubs including VfB Stuttgart, SD Huesca, RCD Mallorca and Olympiacos FC.
At international level, Maffeo has represented virtually every youth category of the Spanish national team. In 2023, he was called up by Argentina, although he did not make his debut, for their South American World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil.
