Valencia CF have signed Aliou Dieng on a two-year contract, through to June 2028.
The Mali international midfielder joins Valencia CF from Egyptian side Al Ahly SC, one of the most successful clubs in African football.
Since arriving in Cairo in 2019, Dieng has made a total of 250 official appearances and has established himself as one of the continent's standout players. His honours include three Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egyptian Cups, four Egyptian Super Cups, as well as two CAF Super Cups and four CAF Champions League titles.
At 28 years of age, Valencia CF's new signing is also the captain and one of the key figures of the Mali national team, representing his country at the most recent edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
His profile combines power, physicality and an outstanding ability to win back possession in defensive situations. These qualities make him a dynamic holding midfielder who offers consistency, progression and composure in the first phase of build-up, with the ability to cover ground, break up opposition play, provide defensive stability and keep the team moving forward in possession.
