Jaume Costa: “Copete will be popular at Mestalla for his grit and character”
The former Valencia CF and RCD Mallorca player featured on L’Informatiu on VCF Media Radio
Former Valencia CF player Jaume Costa was the guest on L’Informatiu on VCF Media Radio to speak about Copete’s arrival at Valencia CF. The Andalusian centre-back played alongside Jaume Costa both at RCD Mallorca and Villarreal CF.
Copete
“He was my teammate at RCD Mallorca and Villarreal CF. I’ve spent quite a bit of time with him. Under Aguirre, he played in a back three. He was my bodyguard during the two seasons I spent with the Bermellones. Knowing the fans, he’s the kind of player that will be popular at Mestalla for his grit and character.”
Playing style
“In a back three, being an aggressive, strong, intense centre-back who likes to push forward and press, he made my life easier as a wing-back. He intercepted a lot of balls. In a back four, he’ll have to focus more on covering and playing the ball out from the back. He’s going to bring a lot to Valencia CF, to Gayà, Jesús, and whoever plays on the flank, because I understand Corberán wants full-backs who press and stay close to the wingers - and Copete is excellent at covering. He’s going to adapt very well. He has the tools to earn a spot in the starting XI, but he’ll have to fight for it day by day.”
