The defender chats to VCF Radio
César Tárrega has received his first call-up to the Spanish Under-21s national team. He will have the opportunity to make his debut in the warm-up matches for the Under-21s European Championships against the Czech Republic and Germany. He spoke to VCF Radio this week to share his excitement.
"I'm really happy and very excited. It's an immense joy, and incredible to be here. It's like living a dream. I'm fulfilling my ambitions. The first was making my debut with Valencia CF, being part of the squad, and now it's this one. I'm very happy with the journey and what it's taken to get here," he explained.
"I got up at 9am to go to the Ciudad Deportiva for treatment, when I got a call from the national team telling me I was called up. I was in shock for three or four minutes, not knowing what to do. Then I called my girlfriend and family, and everyone was very happy for me. Coach Santi Denia congratulated me and welcomed me. He told me to have confidence in myself because what I was doing is what got me here."
Reflecting on the call-up, he said that "I think it's a product of my own hard work and also the help of my teammates, the coach and the coaching staff. I want to thank them. I'm developing a lot as a player, with confidence and peace of mind, thanks to their daily work. It's what allows me to be here."
