Cristhian Mosquera named best defender in LALIGA EA Sports for 2023/24 

Cristhian Mosquera has been named the best defender in LALIGA EA Sports for 2023/24, according to football AI specialists Olocip.

The Valencia CF centre back is the outfield player with the most expected goals prevented, with seven, and tops the table for young players in Europe with the most minutes this season (3,076).

On the latter list appear players like Guillaume Restes (Toulouse FC), Yasin Özcan (Kasimpasa), Jorrel Hato (Ajax) and Leny Yoro (LOSC Lille).

Mosquera is in the Top 5 for Under-23 centre backs with the highest percentage of ground duels won in Europe's major leagues, and was nominated for awards such as LALIGA EA Sports Under-23 Player of the Month for April 23, the Golden Boy - a prize that distinguishes the best Under-21 player in Europe- and the 2024 Football Draft Awards, which recognises the best young Spanish players.
