VCF Inclusivo enjoyed the last phase of LALIGA GENUINE this weekend, held at the Lezama facilities (Bilbao), which brought together 47 teams divided into the Compañerismo Group and the Respeto Group, with more than 1,000 participants including players with intellectual disabilities (DI), both male and female, as well as coaching staff from the clubs.
The Valencia-based team finished eighth in the Respeto Group after winning all three of its matches: 3-1 against RC Deportivo de la Coruña, 4-0 against Deportivo Alavés, and 4-0 against SD Eibar Fundazioa.
The champions of the 7th edition of LALIGA GENUINE were Fundació Barça in the Respeto Group and Villarreal CF in the Compañerismo Group, while Burgos CF and Málaga CF won the Fair Play trophies respectively.
Since the 2016-17 season, the VCF Foundation has worked with the DI community (Intellectual Disabilities) through its VCF Inclusivo program, with 65 players with DI. They are provided with opportunities to play football as a powerful motivational tool for their personal development and social interaction.
In this endeavor, the Valencia-based entity counts on Aquaservice, Supertite, Colevisa, Aliter Soluciones, Grupo Tesela, and Puma as key partners.
In this regard, the objectives of LALIGA GENUINE are: to normalize football practice among people with intellectual disabilities; to strengthen the professional football sector’s commitment to this inclusive and socially responsible project; and to encourage LALIGA clubs to establish their own GENUINE teams. VCF Inclusivo, alongside the VCF Foundation, has been one of the participating clubs since the very first edition in 2017.
