Valencia CF play FIFTH preseason game against Leeds United
THE TEAM LOSE 2-1 AT ELLAND ROAD, WITH MARTÍN TEJÓN SCORING THE VALENCIA CF GOAL
Valencia CF lost 2-1 to Leeds United in their latest 2024/25 preseason game, played at Elland Road in England.
The home team quickly took the lead with a goal from Joseph in the 13th minute, struck inside the far post.
Stole Dimitrievski continued to demonstrate his reliability and his reflexes between the sticks, as the goalkeeper made a great save in the 23rd minute to keep out a header from a corner.
After the half hour mark, Valencia CF tried to equalise with a quick counterattack in which Hugo Duro rushed towards the rival area, looking for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, when the referee disallowed the move due to a previous foul.
Leeds United would manage to increase their lead just before the break. The English side took advantage of a solo move by Rutter to beat Dimitrievski with a chip and make it 2-0.
In the second half, Valencia CF were reduced to ten men after Rafa Mir was sent off. With 20 minutes remaining, coach Rubén Baraja made changes and brought on Dani Gómez, who joined the team on loan this past week.
Despite being outnumbered, Valencia CF continued to go forward, and that personality was rewarded in the 88th minute, when Martín Tejón scored Valencia CF's consolation goal off a corner.
Valencia CF's final summer preparation game takes place on Saturday, August 10th (9:00 p.m.) at Mestalla, against Eintracht Frankfurt of the Bundesliga.
