Mikel Crespo, new coach of VCF Femenino
The Basque coach brings experience in women's football in Spain, having guided Deportivo Alavés to promotion to the top tier during the 2020-21 season
VCF Femenino lost 1-2 to Real Betis Feminas in their Saturday league encounter, with an 88th minute goal from Salmi not enough to give the team points.
After a strong start, including a Pujadas shot wide 2 minutes in, VCF Femenino showed a patient approach in their buildup and circulation of the ball, whilst the opposition resorted to long shots.
In the 22nd minute, C. Bautista had a clear chance off a cross from Asun from the left wing, but her shot hit Méline.
Betis made it 0-1 through a Paula goal, heading in a free kick, and began to take over.
Upon the restart, VCF Femenino looked for gaps into the opposing defence, but would fall further behind when Mari Paz scored on 61 minutes to make it 0-2.
Salmi struck late for the home team, from just inside the area, but the three points went to Real Betis Feminas.
