Ricardo Arias: “Playing the first match at Mestalla is a big boost - we have to take advantage of it”

Gabriel Paulista described the disappointment amongst the Valencia CF squad with the defeat at the hands of Real Madrid. The defender said in the post-match mixed zone that the team must learn from the Supercopa showing and look to the upcoming game against Mallorca for redemption.
"We're very hurt about having had a bad game. I say this because of how the season has been going; we've been playing very well, growing with every game, and today we saw a different Valencia CF. We didn't come out strong or pressing our oppossition like we have been in every other game, and if you don't do that -above all against Real Madrid- then you concede goals and struggle a little more to play. It's a day to forget, so we have to rest up and focus on taking the three points in the next game," he told journalists.
"We let them play. In the first half they had a lot of possession, whilst we were losing balls. We lacked a little more personality."
Paulista continued by saying that "We had a bad day, but the coach will show us the video of this game to watch it. We have a lot of things to forget -mistakes that we made. Now we have a few days to recover, to think, to train well and get back to top form, just as we have been doing all season."
As for whether the result would have been different had the game been held in Spain, with a match at Mestalla, the centreback opined that "Our fans always spur us on a lot and help us. It might be that things would have been different with their help. They give us a lot of support, but today was a very strange game that we have to forget about."
"Obviously today will be a very tough day. I'm sure that I'm not going to be abe to sleep because of the very bad game we had. I think that will be the same for my teammates as well. We're very angry about not having played well. As I've said, we are going to come back for the next game much stronger and forget about this quickly as we go in search of our main objective."
