Match Report: VCFF come away empty handed from Lezama (2-0)

Both sides had a finely-poised start to the game in the first minutes of the game with no side in control and chances few and far between for either side. Alas, Yulema Corres broke the deadlock on the quarter-hour mark and made it 1-0 to Athletic Club.

The goal against galvanised VCF Femenino who had further forays into the opposition box just like the home side towards the half-hour mark in the first half at Lezama with both sides lacking efficiency in transition. Irene Oguiza made it 2-0 to Athletic Club on the stroke of half-time.

VCF Femenino trailed Athletic Club by 2-0 at half-time.

VCF Femenino tried to shake off Athletic Club’s stifling pressure and looked to reduce the two-goal deficit as early as possible. Ellen Jansen came close to scoring on 75 minutes with a great header which was cleared away from point-blank range following a corner kick.  

VCF Femenino kept on trying to no avail. The remainder of the game played out with no further incidents and VCF Femenino came away empty-handed from Lezama.
