Agreement reached with Zone7 for player performance optimisation and injury reduction
Valencia CF and Zone7, the human performance analysis platform based on Artificial Intelligence, have reached an agreement for a collaboration to optimise player performance and, in particular, reduce the number of injuries amongst the squad.
Zone7 will analyse the biometric, biomechanical and positioning parameters of the Valencia CF first team players, which will show patterns for the risk of injury invisible to the human eye, and also provide recommendations to help players reach maximum performance potential whilst minimising damage and fatigue. In addition, it is designed to help the coach, the fitness trainers and medical staff in their decision-making.
"If the players are not available on match day, this can logically cause irreparable damage, both on and off the pitch," explains Javier Vidal, Valencia CF's fitness coach. “Zone7's advanced Artificial Intelligence is capable of understanding the well-being of each athlete and provides us with a better understanding of their health in real time, with very valuable information that would take considerably more time to extract manually. By removing the barrier of manual analysis, Zone7 allows us to leverage scientific data without sacrificing the time we personally spend with each player to improve their performance."
Valencia CF coach, José Bordalás, and his coaching staff have been using this technology since preseason, but previously employed it during their time at Getafe CF. During that period, Getafe CF were the LaLiga team with the lowest injury rate, with a 70% reduction in the number of injuries suffered in a period of three years.
Valencia CF are the latest elite team to join forces with Zone7, who already work with many teams from the Premier League, Serie A, LaLiga and other sports such as rugby and cycling.
"We are delighted to be able to align ourselves with Valencia CF, one of the most prestigious and successful clubs in European football," said Tal Brown, Co-Founder and CEO of Zone7. "Us having previously worked with José (Bordalás) and Javier (Vidal) gives us the confidence to expect positive results during the 2021/22 season and beyond."
