Danjuma: "It's a defeat that hurts us all"
The striker believes the penalty given against Valencia CF was key
Arnau Danjuma expressed his opinion on the loss to Villarreal CF in a post-match interview with VCF Media.
The key to the game
For me, the penalty changed everything. The penalty was key, it was game-changing in my opinion. There's no excuse, but it really was key. After the penalty, we had to change our way of playing. It's not an excuse, but it had a big impact.
A painful defeat
It definitely hurts, 100%. It's a shame, because I think we started well. In the first half, for me, we were doing well. We went after them and had the ball, and we were attacking very well. But after the penalty, it was a different game.
Recovering from the defeat
The problem isn't the way we are working, because if you come to the training ground you can see that we work hard every day. We're training to fix things. But we have to improve things too.
It's a difficult message for me and for the fans, because I also feel that everyone is hurting. It hurts for us, it hurts for them too, it hurts for everyone who supports Valencia CF.
It's difficult, but we have to be patient during this time. We have to improve things, we have to keep working. Because the reality is that we have no other way to do things better.
In life, you only have this. Tomorrow and in the coming days, we have to work and we have to win, that's just how it is. We're at Valencia CF, we're at a very big club, we have a fanbase who are very dedicated that come here. Every game they're here to support us, it's crazy. And we have to give them much, much better; but we already know that.
