VALENCIA CF TO RESUME NOU MESTALLA CONSTRUCTION, TARGETING 2027 MOVE

The new stadium will symbolize pride and modernity, providing sports, leisure and entertainment 365 days a year

This Friday, January 10th, 2025, Valencia CF will begin an exciting new chapter in the club's history, resuming work on the Nou Mestalla stadium. Once completed, it will be a trailblazing venue for sports, leisure and entertainment, set to open in the summer of 2027.

To bring this vision to life, Valencia CF has partnered with Fenwick Iribarren Architects, renowned for designing three stadiums for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.The club has also appointed FCC Construcción, a prestigious company known for constructing large sports facilities, including the Metropolitano Stadium, RCDE Stadium, and the renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu. It has also been involved in upgrading the training facilities for both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. FCC Construcción will oversee the construction of the Nou Mestalla.

The Nou Mestalla is the most significant non-sporting project in Valencia CF's over century-long history. With a seating capacity of 70,044, it will be a state-of-the-art stadium capable of hosting top-tier FIFA and UEFA matches, as well as major events. The design will incorporate the latest trends invisibility, safety, and comfort, ensuring an enhanced experience for all fans.

A DYNAMIC AND ENGAGING EXPERIENCE EVERY DAY

The new stadium will offer a diverse range of experiences that cater to all audiences and will be centrally located in Valencia, significantly impacting the lives of its citizens. It will provide year-round entertainment, featuring experiential restaurants, leisure activities, a megastore, a museum, and an auditorium. The stadium aims to be an innovative hub for fans on both matchdays and non-matchdays.

This dynamic space will be perfect for families and is equipped to host major events. With over 6,500 hospitality seats, it presents a unique opportunity for visitors, as well as for gastronomic, technological, and commercial partners.

THREE STRATEGIC PILLARS

As the center of Valencia CF's sporting activities, the Nou Mestalla will also play a vital role in the local economy and community. The construction of the new stadium is a key opportunity to drive economic and sporting growth, generating new sources of income and enhancing our reputation and reach in the coming decades.

To ensure that the Nou Mestalla becomes a benchmark for sports, leisure, and entertainment, every euro invested will contribute to at least one of the following three strategic pillars: delivering a memorable visitor experience that promotes the Mediterranean lifestyle, providing hospitality and MICE(meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) options, and embracing innovation and new technologies.

100% COVERED SEATS WITH SUSTAINABLE STADIUM DESIGN

The new stadium is designed to reflect the club's unique identity through its architecture and features.

The project incorporates dynamic, wavy ribbons that twist and turn to create the facades, stair towers, and the podium supporting the building. One of the standout elements of the new stadium will be its translucent roof, which filters Mediterranean light while providing protection from the sun and rain for every seat. This roof will also enhance the acoustic experience from the stands to the pitch and will include a photovoltaic installation.

The roof design is the work of Schlaich Bergermann & Partner, renowned for crafting roofs for stadiums including the Metropolitano, Maracanã, National Stadium in Warsaw, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, and the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg -both of which were venues for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa-. The stadium’s stands will prominently feature the club’s color, orange, with the bat symbol highlighted, similar to the current Mestalla.

The club's new home will be a large, comfortable, and accessible facility that expands the urban and public space of the city by 20,000 m². Additionally, there will be a municipal sports center for the residents of Benicalap, along with a 6,000 m² square next to Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas, which will serve as a gathering place for fans and citizens. This area will host 'Fan Zones' and various activities.

The project adheres to the latest environmental sustainability standards by carefully selecting materials and incorporating systems to conserve water and energy. The structural features of the roof are designed to significantly reduce the building's carbon footprint due to low steel consumption, while also generating clean, green, and unlimited electricity for the facility's daily operations.
