Nou Mestalla begins the lifting of the main structure of its future roof
The future home of Valencianismo reaches a new construction milestone with one of the most complex engineering operations of the project
Nou Mestalla enters one of the most decisive stages of its construction with the start of the lifting of the main structure of the stadium’s future roof, in one of the most complex engineering operations of the project.
This progress represents a fundamental step in the development of the works, as it marks the transition from a provisional assembly phase, carried out at pitch level, to the definitive structural configuration designed for the roof. The operation involves the coordinated lifting, connection and fixing of the cable network to the compression ring surrounding the stadium.
The structural system is made up of upper and lower radial cables, ring elements, connectors, rigid and flexible hangers, as well as various reinforcement components that will be lifted simultaneously until reaching their final position. To carry out this manoeuvre, synchronised lifting technology will be used through hydraulic jacks installed on the compression ring, ensuring permanent control of the structure’s geometry and load distribution throughout the entire process.
The works will be carried out progressively over the coming weeks. The planned operations include the lifting of the radial cables, the sequential incorporation of the hangers, the assembly of the structural struts and the final tensioning of the elements that will provide stability and rigidity to the structure as a whole.
The launch of the also known as ‘Big Lift’ marks the beginning of a new construction phase at Nou Mestalla. Once this operation has been completed, the project will continue with the installation of the secondary roof structure, the technical walkways and, subsequently, the assembly of the arches and the outer membrane that will define the stadium’s final appearance.
With this new milestone, the works continue to advance towards the completion of one of the most representative elements of the future Nou Mestalla: a roof of great technical complexity designed to provide greater comfort for spectators and give the stadium a distinctive architectural identity.
