Valencia CF pioneers in use of new technologies in live broadcast
The club were the first in Spain to integrate a player POV camera in a live stream
Valencia CF have long been a club at the forefront of broadcast technology. In the Legends Match, played at Mestalla on April 5, a player POV camera was used to follow the action. Momo Sissoko and Ricardo Costa were those who wore the camera that was employed for the first time in a live football broadcast in Spain.
Fans were also able to enjoy this point of view in the events prior to the match, experiencing an instant insider view with the players from the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons. As a precedent, the club had previously used this technology in the buildup to the Trofeo Naranja game last summer.
The Valencia CF Communications Department, with VCF Media and the technical support of Mediapro and LaLiga achieved this innovative technological milestone. It was a cutting-edge broadcast in which skycam, steady cam and multiple points of view were also used, and live interviews were conducted from positions such as the team benches. All of this was connected to the Mestalla audiovisual system, with the stadium a hub of audiovisual innovation where a large number of technical operators for international sports broadcasts are trained.
The move had an impact at a local, national and international level through the official Valencia CF platforms, with the in-house production of VCF Media. Likewise, it was possible to follow the action on national channel Gol Play and regional channel À Punt.
