R. Saravia: “I am delighted to represent Valencia CF and I am going to give my maximum. I see a motivated team with desire”
The Argentine defender in his presentation as a Valencia CF player
The new Valencia CF full-back, Renzo Saravia, appeared this Tuesday before the media on the occasion of his signing for the Valencian entity.
Joining Valencia CF
“I’m very happy to have this opportunity. I’m grateful to everyone for their confidence in me. I’m motivated and eager to get started. When I became a free agent, several clubs showed interest in me, but when Valencia CF came calling, it was a very quick move to make. I wanted to come here right from the get-go, and I want to thank everyone for how the negotiations went. I’m delighted to represent this club, and I’m going to give my all.”
The dressing room
“I’ve talked with the Argentinians in the squad, and they’ve spoken very highly of my teammates. We’re going through a rough patch, but everyone is very motivated and eager to turn things around. Everyone has welcomed me warmly; they’re all wonderful people.”
LaLiga
“I’ve played in big leagues, I’ve represented Argentina, and coming here is a personal goal I had. I’m very motivated and happy.”
FC Porto
“I joined up with them after the Copa América, and I played well in the matches I had. The Argentina coach at the time wanted me to have more consistent playing time, so I went to Brazil. Then there was a pandemic, and ultimately, football is about decisions. I'm happy with the decisions I've made; I've left a good impression at the clubs I've been at. I'm an aggressive, intense player with a real desire to win.”
Corberán
“I spoke with him before joining. He's involved in every detail. He told me what he expects from me: to contribute experience, intensity, and the Argentine spirit that characterises us. I'm going to be like one of the fans.”
His contract
“It would be a dream to stay at Valencia CF for the long term. I'm at a very big club; you have to do things very well and earn your place here. Right now, I have a short-term contract, but I'll be focused on staying here longer. It's a very big club in world football.”
His fitness
“I feel good. I’ve continued working with my personal trainer. I feel good, and now it will depend on the coaching staff as to whether I play. I’m very excited to meet the fans and see Mestalla.”
His best position
“I’m a versatile full-back. I’ve played on the right wing, as a natural full-back, or as a right-sided stopper. I’m aggressive in my marking, intense, and a winner.”
Valencia CF's Argentinian history
“Many players have passed through here, among them an Argentine idol like Kempes. In the national team I shared with Otamendi and Aimar and they have always told me about the greatness of this Club. It was an easy decision to make.”
The team’s position in the table
“We have a team that can be much higher up the table. We’re aware of the current situation, but winning two or three games will get you up there. You always have to aim high because we have great players. This situation is temporary.”
Injuries
“Injuries are a shame for any player. They happen. I went through that in 2020 too, and then I played over 200 matches. In Brazil, there are a lot of games and little time to rest. This past year I had two hamstring injuries, I recovered well, and I ended up playing every game. I'm available for whatever is needed of me.”
