Mamardashvili named best player of 2024 by Georgian Football Federation

Giorgi Mamardashvili has been selected by the Georgian Football Federation as the best player of 2024.
On Friday, December 27th, the Georgian Federation held their annual awards gala. Mamardashvili, who had previously been chosen by Georgian newspaper Sarbieli, as the best footballer from the country, won the award, which from 2020-2023 had been given to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
In 2024, he finished seventh in the Yashin Trophy standings at the Ballon d'Or.
In 2023/24 in LaLiga, he became the goalkeeper with the most consecutive starts in the division (71) and broke his own record for most clean sheets (13) in the domestic competition. He was also the goalkeeper, along with Unai Simón, with the joint most penalties saved (3). He was also nominated for best Under-23 player for the month of March.
At international level, he received the Man of the Match award for in Georgia's Euro 2024 game against the Czech Republic, with the second most saves in a group stage match at a European Championship.
