“Against SD Eibar there. I also saved a penalty, but I keep the one I made to Sergi Enrich.”
Jaume Domènech: “It’s a very emotional day”
The former Valencia CF goalkeeper was the main guest on l’Informatiu of VCF Media Radio after announcing his retirement
The former goalkeeper and captain of Valencia CF, Jaume Domènech, was the protagonist of l’Informatiu on VCF Media Radio to talk about his retirement as a professional footballer.
Retirement
“I feel good. My phone has been ‘smoking’ all morning with many messages from all over the world. A very emotional day. It’s a hard day because I didn’t plan to retire yet, but it’s also a very happy day because I have achieved all the dreams I had since I was little thanks to Valencia CF.”
Family
“It’s a matter of my daughter. Since she was born, she has had a health situation that has evolved very well, and in recent years, with my injuries, I haven’t had the participation I would have liked on the field. As a family, we considered playing a year away from home. But during the summer, a particular situation arose with my daughter, and then it didn’t make sense to live an experience away from them. I’m a father who likes to be with his family, and I thought it was the right moment to stop and take care of my own. It’s a situation that has come to me now, and it must be faced with responsibility and willingness.”
First team debut at El Molinón, September 12, 2015
“It’s a date I keep very close. It was very hard for me to get there. I was able to give everything I had inside, and it was very special.”
2019 Copa del Rey
“Many years ago, I was interviewed on the field, and they asked me if I was thinking about leaving Valencia CF, and I answered that my goal was to be here all my life and win a title. I am very happy because I like to keep the promises I make, and I did it. It was a very beautiful day. All the players on the field gave everything, and we gave 100%. I get emotional remembering it.”
Number 77 on the ‘Paterna to Mestalla’ mural
“Valencia CF needs people from the club. Whenever I have seen a kid coming from the VCF Academy, I have always tried to support him, take care of him… we have to rely on those players, we have to nurture ourselves with them, and they must be important in our squad.”
