Hugo Duro: “There are four finals left and we have to face them as such”

Statements to VCF MEDIA

Hugo Duro, Valencia CF player, has analysed for VCF MEDIA what happened in the match played at Mestalla against Atlético de Madrid (0-2), corresponding to Matchday 34 of LaLiga 2025-2026.

Match assessment

“I think the team was not bad. It was an even duel and from a throw-in that we defend badly they score the first, we went forward and they scored the second that ended up killing us.”

Tough match

“It is clear that we are playing for our lives and that sometimes can go against you because of the anxiety of getting a good result. Rama had a shot off the post that could have changed the match.”

Keep fighting

“We have tried to generate more one-on-one situations on the wings, more presence in the box. That also has a risk. We have to think about the next match because we are playing for our lives and it is not the moment to lower our heads.”

Disallowed goal

“The assistant referee makes a mistake by raising the flag. He is a person and he can make mistakes. He apologised to us and I like people who recognise their mistakes. In Sadiq’s goal he first whistles a foul by me and says he is sure. He would not be so sure when he said that the foul was mine.”

Four matches ahead

“There are four finals left that we have to face as such. It is very tight. There are many teams and we have to win matches to secure survival.”
