Maffeo: "There is no other way than to work hard to improve"

Pablo Maffeo spoke to VCF Media after his starting debut against Real Betis Balompié at Mestalla.

Problems with finishing

“Being solid in both penalty areas is what defines the game. I don't consider Betis deserved winners; we even dominated them at times… but that's football, and clinical finishing is what matters. We leave here with the feeling that we could have won.”

Working hard

“We had attacking opportunities, but there's no other way than to keep working to improve. If we fall apart now, it would be the worst thing. That's football; you have to get back up, and the team that gets back up the best are the one that achieve their goals.”

The need to pick up wins soon

“I try to give my best every day, improving and training to give my all. If it's 5 minutes that I play, then I do it for 5 minutes, and if it's 60, then I do it for 60; whatever the manager thinks is best. I'm happy, but I'd rather not play a minute and see the club achieve our objectives.”

Sunday's visit to A Coruña

"Football and life don't wait for anyone; you either adapt or you fall. We need to recover, analyse what we've done wrong, and improve. We’ll go to A Coruña looking for the win. There are 36 matchdays left to reach 42 points, and that's the priority."
