MATCH REPORT: 1-1 Draw with Stoke City

Valencia CF's third pre-season friendly saw a 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the Bet 365 Stadium, as Arnaut Danjuma scored the team's lone goal.

Whilst the first chance fell to Stoke City when Thomas broke into the penalty area, Stole Dimitrievski saved the effort without difficulty. As the minutes went by, Valencia CF began to take control of the game.

This led to the opening goal, when Javi Guerra controlled the ball off a one-two with Monferrer, reached the byline, and cut back for Danjuma to finish powerfully to make it 0-1. 

Out of possession, Carlos Corberan's men persisted with a high press and immediate pressure after losing the ball.

The closing minutes of the first half were dominated by Valencia CF, who continue to find their groove in preseason.

SECOND HALF

During the initial minutes after the restart, both teams battled for possession. Just past the hour, the Potters equalised following a cross from the right flank; Monferrer attempted to clear, but the ball ended up in his own net. 

Moments later, Cisse found himself one-on-one with Dimitrievski, but the Valencia CF goalkeeper dealt with the threat.

Valencia CF tried to score a second goal through counter-attacks led by Dani Raba. After the seventy-minute mark, the forward appealed for a penalty during a move where he was collided into by Ingelsson, but referee Tom Reeves did not award the spot-kick.

In the dying minutes, André Almeida fired a shot that opposition goalkeeper Johansson saved, keeping the scoreline at 1-1.

Valencia CF will return to the Ciudad Deportiva to prepare for the Trofeo Naranja, which will be played on Saturday, August 8th, at 9pm against Newcastle United.
