The team are beaten 2-1 on Matchday 25
Valencia CF lost 2-1 to Villarreal CF at the Estadio de La Cerámica, on Matchday 25 of the LaLiga season. Largie Ramazani scored the team's lone goal.
The game began with Valencia CF trying to capitalise on counter-attacks and Villarreal CF playing for possession. Around the 20 minute mark, Carlos Corberán's men created two dangerous chances on goal, with Umar Sadiq and Ugrinic both denied Luiz Junior between the sticks.
Two minutes later, Sadiq's persistence and intelligence led to a penalty for Valencia CF, after he took advantage of a moment of hesitation between Pau Navarro and Luiz Júnior in the box. The striker touched the ball, and the Villarreal goalkeeper brought him down. Ramazani calmly converted the penalty to make it 0-1.
However, four minutes later, Comesaña equalised after a cross from the wing was headed by Ayoze, and the rebound fell perfectly for the midfielder to finish off.
Valencia CF reacted to the goal with more possession and came very close to regaining the lead with a great pass from Gayà on the left flank, that Ramazani just missed connecting with in the opposing penalty area.
In the 44th minute, Dimitrievski and Copete prevented a second goal for the home side. Pepe headed the ball, and the Macedonian goalkeeper got a touch initially, his defender then clearing the danger away.
In the 48th minute, however, Pepe crossed from the right wing, and the ball struck Ramazani's hand. VAR awarded a penalty and Gueye put it away to take the score to 2-1.
SECOND HALF
After the break, Valencia CF pressed high up the pitch, disrupting Villarreal's build-up play and enjoying more possession. However, the first chances in the opposition's penalty area fell to the Yellow Submarine.
Gayà advanced higher up on the left wing, but couldn't find deliveries into the box. Corberán brought on Danjuma and Thierry to try and bolster this. Valencia CF continued to dominate the second half, and Hugo Duro and Jesús Vázquez also entered the fray.
Moments later, Danjuma had a dangerous opportunity, firing a shot off from inside the box, but Luiz Júnior made the save.
Sadiq came very close to levelling the score, although his effort from close range was cleared for a corner. The whistle blew for full time with the result standing at 2-1.
Valencia CF will host CA Osasuna at Mestalla on Sunday, March 1st, at 4:15pm
