Gayà: "We have the second half of the campaign ahead to turn the situation around"
The captain gives his verdict on the 1-1 draw on Matchday 19
José Luis Gayà talked about the 1-1 draw with Elche CF following the final whistle at Mestalla.
MAKING THE MOST OF CHANCES
“In the first half, we had three or four very clear chances. Taking the lead helps in this situation, that's a fact. But in the end, we didn't do that, and football is about making a difference in the penalty areas. They scored a fantastic goal with their first chance, and we had to fight back again here at Mestalla. Not taking the lead is hurting us, and we have to try to take advantage of the first chances we get -because then the game is going our way, and in this situation, that's very important.”
A NEGATIVE DYNAMIC
“It’s a matter of momentum and energy. Right now our dynamic is negative. Our opponents score against us when they provide very little, and we struggle to score ourselves. That’s why games are so difficult for us. In the end, we got a point, but we needed all three. We went out there aiming for the three points. The first half of the season was very bad, but we have the second half of the campaign ahead of us, and we hope to turn things around.”
CONVICTION
“When you don’t get results, it’s normal for the fans to feel the way they do. They want the team to win and not be in this situation, and so do we. We are going to be the ones to change this situation, and as we did last year. I'm convinced that we will do it again this year.”
