Rafa Mir: strength, power and goal for Valencia CF's attack
The new Valencianista striker arrives to help the offensive line
Rafa Mir (Cartagena, Spain - June 18, 1997) is already a Valencia CF player. The striker arrives after his time at Sevilla FC to bring strength, power, stride and goal to the Valencianista attack.
Trajectory
The player from Cartagena was formed in the lower categories of the Valencian club. His great goalscoring ability made him grow and stand out in the VCF Academy. It is worth mentioning that in the Juvenil A he coincided with Rubén Baraja. After his debut with VCF Mestalla under the orders of Curro Torres and his progress with Miguel Ángel Angulo, on November 24, 2015 he made his debut with Valencia CF in a Champions League match in the visit to Zenit St. Petersburg.
After playing 8 official matches with the Valencianista first team, in the summer of 2017, he headed to England to join the ranks of Wolverhampton FC with whom he was champion of the Football League Championship (English Second Division). The following season, he returned to Spain with UD Las Palmas to play in the Second Division and the following season, he returned to the United Kingdom to compete with Nottingham Forest.
In the 2019-20 season, he went back to Spain, this time to SD Huesca. In his first season with the Huesca team, he scored 10 goals in 18 competitive matches and won promotion to LaLiga. The following season he continued with SD Huesca and again had a good season, scoring 16 goals in 40 games played.
Subsequently, in the 2021-22 season, he signed for Sevilla FC, where he has played 105 games and scored 24 goals in the three seasons he has been with the Andalusian team. He also won the 2022-23 UEFA Europa League.
At the national team level, Rafa Mir has been European Under-21 champion with the Spanish National Team and runner-up at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In terms of his style, he plays as a center forward, although he also has the versatility to play on both flanks. Mir is a player who stands out for his strength in aerial duels, his power in the stride to leave behind rivals, his unmarked breaks behind the back of the rival defense and his ease of scoring.
Final season
In the current season 2023-24, the Murcian striker has scored 3 goals and has shared 1 assist in the 22 matches played with Sevilla FC between the different competitions played: LaLiga EA Sports, the UEFA Champions League, the European Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.
