Diego López: "Scoring a goal at Mestalla is something magical"

Ahead of his final game in charge, Valencia CF caretaker coach Voro González gave a press conference in which he addressed the Matchday 38 contest against Sevilla FC.
The focus for Matchday 38
“We've still got another game tomorrow and we're up against great opposition who are going to make things very difficult. They are on an upwards trend since the league restarted and are strong in attack and on the wings. They are a very solid side, who have reached their targets. They are going to play in Europe still, so they won't be switching off. They are obviously great opponents, and we have the challenge of trying to win, as well as then depending on other results going our way to get into the Europa League.
“It's the last chance to compete, and the final game. We're going to have a final training session, so I hope that we have our minds focused on having the best attitude possible for competing. If we do that, then we will be able to get into the game. Sometimes small details change things. If we can do this, then we can possibly have luck on our side and be able to win."
Optimism about European qualification
“I’m optimistic. We have good players and we hope that they clear their minds to compete to the fullest over 90 minutes. There is no training the day after, so we need their utmost effort. We want to win the game. We know that Sevilla are the side with the most crosses into the box at home, the most explosive moves… there is date that indicates why Sevilla are where they are. We are facing this challenge with all the strength in the world to beat a team who will offer great resistance.”
A possible final game for Parejo
“I don’t know if this is going to be his final game or not. Parejo playing tomorrow or not is a possibility, because he’s in the squad, because he’s an important player. If we consider that he should play, then he will.”
Motivating the players amidst media speculation
"Our way of acting regarding the group when motivating the squad does not change depending on what is said in the media. The club have not conveyed their intentions to me, nor what their conversations have been. All this affects the players relatively: It is like Ferran's situation: There is a lot of talk about Ferran, but the player is focused on performing. For me, the important thing is the day to day work, talking to the players and making sure that they know the responsibility they have. We are at the end of the season and we are looking to choose the players who are mentally and physically freshest to win the game, we do not look at anything else beyond that. We focus on the day to day work and isolate ourselves from everything else.”
Javi Gracia’s link with the coaching job
“I don’t have any information from the club about who the new coach should be -and nor should I. I understand that the club are looking for the best choice for a new coach, and that’s fundamental for the club.”
Ferran Torres’ link to Manchester City
“I don’t have an opinion about whether 35 million euros is a lot or too little. I don’t know the market. Ferran Torres is playing because he has shown that he can offer us things in training and in games. What is printed in the media doesn’t affect me at all. If Ferran Torres plays well, then he plays. He has to take the best decision for his future. I’d like him to stay, but I don’t make decisions for him. He is the one who is responsible for his decision.”
