VCF raise 7,662€ for Benferri-Oleza football school
Mestalla gave a rousing ovation at halftime in the game against Granada CF, as over 200 children from the Benferri-Oleza affiliate football school took to the pitch. The children have had their playing time hindered over the last month due to damage to the facilities in their town in heavy flooding.
A Valencia CF initiative, donating 2€ from each ticket sold for the LaLiga Matchday 13 contest, saw the club raise 7,662€ for the rebuilding work. It will be donated to Benferri town council, and the mayor and sports minister of the town, Luis Vicente Mateo and Jerónimo García Zaragoza, were in attendance on Saturday.
They were welcomed by Valencia CF president Anil Murthy, who also greeted Benferri CF president José Pascual García and Benferri-Oleza school representatives Miguel Ángel García and Pedro Meseguer.
In addition to the financial donation, Valencia CF will also contribute with sporting and IT materials to get the town club up and running as soon as possible.
