VCF awarded 'Medalla de Oro' by Valencia city
Valencia CF president Anil Murthy collected a special award on behalf of the club this Friday, as Valencia mayor Joan Ribó presented the city's 'Medalla de Oro' ('Gold Medal') to the club in recognition of their Centenary.
Ribó explained the motive behind the award, which the panel elected on due to Valencia CF being 'a highest level sporting phenomenon, a social phenomenon and a passport to the world for Valencia." He also hailed the club's capability for "Emerging from, and overcoming, any difficulty, never lacking the support of its unconditional fanbase."

Speaking to VCF Media, Mr. Murthy expressed his gratitude for the honour, saying that "It is an honour to represent this great club, with its 100 years of history. It is the best ambassador for this city and this community in the world."
"This is an important recognition for a club that is the best ambassador for this city and this region worldwide. We are going to continue on this path of 'internationalising' this club, because it deserves to be followed by fans around the world. This is a great club which, during 100 years, has enjoyed complete success in every competition. We are going to continue in this way," he continued.

When asked about the game against Alavés on Saturday, the Valencia CF president stated that "The result against Ajax was a pity, and wasn't the correct reflection of how well we played. Now the fans are behind their team, and both they and the players are behind their coach. We have every element in place to achieve something good this season."
