At the end of 2019, Toni Lato went out on loan to CA Osasuna, after a few months at Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. The VCF Academy product will not be able to play against his parent club this weekend, but he is excited about the Matchday 30 fixture in LaLiga.
"I'm feeling very comfortable here and I've been welcomed incredibly at Osasuna," says Lato. "The people on the coaching staff and sports management are really nice. I'm enjoying myself again, after not having been able to for a while."
"When I arrived in Pamplona I got injured, and I was beginning to get back training with the group when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. I played again the other day, felt good and -despite the result- I felt good and am happy."
Lato also had a tough time at PSV, which did not go as he had hoped.
"In the end it wasn't a good moment in Holland, and I'm very grateful for the trust Osasuna have shown in me. They have welcomed me incredibly and I'm happy."
As for Sunday's game, the young talent is hoping to be able to attend Mestalla to observe the action.
"It's a very special game, and we'll see if I can be at Mestalla to watch. I would be very proud, because they are my two teams. Both clubs are hurting from the last matchday, as they didn't get the results they hoped for, but it will be exciting and I'm looking forward to watching it."
"I'm expecting an intense game with plenty of duels. We will see who wins them. We can't keep our fitness very high because we are playing every 3 or 4 days, and that will be an important factor."
