The role of Scientiffic Nutrition in fuelling players
May 28th is National Nutrition Day in Spain, and Valencia CF nutritionist Carlos Ferrando spoke about the role of the club’s official supplement company Scientiffic Nutrition in keeping the players well fuelled for their training and matchday efforts.
“Basically, what we look for is to give the players a lot of available energy, depending on the demands of the session,” said Ferrando, who has been devising diets for the players throughout the lockdown period.
“During the session we aim to keep the athletes as hydrated as possible, to improve all of the elements: Strength, speed and resistance. Right after the session, we try to give them a chance to recover. The supplement brand that we use is Scientific, who provide us with several options. There are options with more protein, another with a higher amount of carbohydrates and protein etc. What we do is, based on the preferences and needs of the player, personalise their intake.”
On the company who renewed their official provider deal with Valencia CF at the start of the season, Ferrando commented that: “We are very happy, because it’s a product that the squad like. They have a wide range, and also adapt when we request any type of special product. Above all, the brand treat us very well, with very good feedback and a will to cater to our needs.”
