Match Report: VCF MESTALLA snatch late win against Nffc FC B (0-1)
oselu's last-gasp goal earned VCF Mestalla the win on Matchday 2 of the Premier League International Cup
Like every other Mestlla player Diego López’s dream is to reach the first team and professional football. He is not short of role models as he has seen great Asturian attacking players over the last few decades.
David Villa and Juan Mata have been the most recent ones on the list where his new head coach, Miguel Ángel Angulo is also one of the standout Asturian players and back in the late 80’s early 90’s, Eloy Olaya. All of them internationals and with great careers at Valencia CF.
“I know a bit less about Eloy, but they have heard a lot about him too” says Diego who has David Villa as one of his great idols” Villa is being a reference for as long as I can remember, I saw him at Valencia CF, the Euro and the World Cup”. Diego starts his journey at VCF Mestalla having completed his Juvenil stage at FC Barcelona having scored 42 goals across three seasons, being named last season’s leading goalscorer of his team in División de Honor.
From Asturian to Asturian, Diego López wants to grow at the VCF Academy under a homegrown’s orders like Angulo who arrived at the VCF Mestalla at a young age to end up becoming the most decorated player in the club’s history. I’m lucky to have an Asurian as a coach, besides he is the most decorated player in the club’s history. I’m really looking forward to having more Asturians succeeding at Valencia CF”.
His arrival in Valencia has been an absolute dream upon setting a foot on the Ciudad Deportiva he had the chance to join the list of players to train with the first team in preseason at Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort preseason training base.
An opportunity to show his worth and further the list of illustrious Asturian players at our club.
