VCF Mestalla dictated play right from the off and they soon reaped their reward following a fine collective move started off by Fran Pérez’s guided control to beat the opposition’s pressure and play it out wide into José David who delivered a pin-point cross into Hugo González who nodded it beyond Viorel’s reach.
They came close to doubling their lead through a Pedro Alemañ solo move, but his tamed effort was scrambled off the line by the opposition’s backline. The constest evened out halfway through the first half as the opposition were trying to bring menace up top through set pieces and long balls.
VCF Mestalla regained control of the game in the closing minutes and they came close to scoring with a carbon copy of the opening goal, alas this time the ball whistled over the bar, and then through a free-kick delivery from Pedro Alemañ that went skimming past the post.
VCF Mestalla came out in the second half looking to score the second goal to seal the game against a battling CD Olímpic who refused to back down alas, they were up against a solid VCF back who were constantly trying to hit the opposition on the counter-attack through pacey players like Fran Pérez and H. González. Deep into the second half Miguel Ángel Angulo introduced Javi Guerra to shore-up the midfield.
The second goal came from open play from the right-hand side following a clever Charly ball into José David who got ahead of his maker with a guided control into his stride to then roll it into Gonzálbez who fired the ball home across the keeper to put VCF Mestalla two goals to the good.
