Match Report: Emphatic win away at Ohrihuela CF (1-3)
VCF Mestalla came away with an emphatic 1-3 win at Orihuela CF on Matchday 2 in group IV of Tercera RFEF. Miguel Ángel Angulo’s side visited a tough place, but the b team provided an emphatic response through a great Hugo González first-half strike and two further second half goals from Fran Pérez and Gozálbez which puts them as group leaders with two wins from two games.
VCF Mestalla were off to a perfect start through Hugo González’s fine free-kick goal from outside the area which gave them an early lead as he grabs his second free kick goal thus far. He had already scored in a pre-season friendly against Hércules CF.
The lead gave Miguel Ángel Angulo’s side a lift as they enjoyed further chances to double their lead. The away side however, tried to provide a response in the closing minutes. Albeit, they could not get past VCF Mestalla’s solid backline with César Tárrega and C. Mosquera partnering at the heart of the defence as well as Charly who pulled off some fine stops to keep the scoreline at 0-1 going into the interval.
VCF Mestalla took charge of proceedings in the second half, looking to double their lead. Fran Pérez came close to scoring with a powerful drive from outside the area and minutes later, aforementioned Fran Pérez found the net with a cross-strike following a fine move and assist from Pédro Alemany.
VCF Mestalla rounded off the scoreline in the closing minutes through a Gozálbez effort despite the home side pulling one goal back through Champi which was nothing more than a consolation goal to Orihuela CF.
