Ilaix Moriba: "I can't let down Gattuso or the fans, and that's why I come here to do my best at all times"

First feelings after signing the contract with Valencia CF.

I’m very happy to be here again. I was here last year and I loved the club, the city, the fans and my teammates. From the beginning I knew that Valencia CF was my first choice and thankfully I am here.

Valencia CF was your first choice for a long time.

From the beginning of preseason I already knew that I was not going to stay at RB Leipzig. I was holding out for as long as possible, talking to the board just in case there was a chance of coming here.

What is your objective in this second spell as a Valencia CF player?

In this second spell here I hope we can give the fans the joy that we couldn't give them last year, to be able to qualify for Europe and enjoy the experience like last year. We have to do the job well and then we will all be happy.

How do you feel about Gattuso's new Valencia CF?

I’ve watched all of Valencia CF matches, I’ve spoken with several teammates from last year who are my friends and I can see that they play good football. They are a team with a lot of quality. It was shown against Atletico Madrid that we can dominate any team, but we still need to score goals and win games.

How can this new style of play help you unlock your full potential?

I’m a player who can adapt to everything, but a fast-passing game, mobility and creating play is what fascinates me the most. We have great players, the coach has already shown that he is not going to give up this style of play that we and the fans like. I have to join up with them and do my best, and that's what I will do.

Have you been in contact with Gattuso?

I have spoken with the coach. He told me that he wanted me here, and that he would be very happy to have me here. I can't let down Gattuso or the fans, and that's why I come here to do my best at all times.
