Valencia CF Academy gets recognition at a sports gala
Diario Sport and LaLiga present VCF's Alevín A with an award for their behavior in last season’s LaLiga FC Futures
After a very intense weekend, in which more than 50 games in total were played in just three days, the first edition of the VCF Academy World Cup came to a close on Sunday.
Around 150 children from 10 teams, hailing from the USA, Canada, South Korea, Morocco, Holland, Greece, Cyprus and Lithuania, enjoyed the Under-12s competition at the Ciudad Deportiva.
Zalgiris Kaunas
FK Zalgiris Kaunas from Lithuania were the first winners of the VCF Academy World Cup, beating the VCF Soccer Academy from Greece in the final. FK Zalgiris Kaunas, one of the clubs with which the VCF Academy maintains a strategic alliance, scored several beautiful goals in the final en route to lifting the trophy.
The final was attended by Sean Bai, Director General of Valencia CF, Luis Martínez, Director of the VCF Academy, and Miguel Tendillo, Valencia CF ambassador. Martínez and Tendillo were also present at the awards ceremony.
All-Star game
Prior to the final, the final standings were determined with a series of playoffs and there was spectacular All Stars match between the best players from each of the teams. competing against VCF Alevín B from the VCF Academy.
Photo and Paella
The VCF Academy World Cup concluded with a group photo with all the teams, coaching staff and fans of each group mixing with each other, as well as trying a giant paella made specially for the occasion.
The competition was a good chance not just to share football, but also friendship and the sights of the city of Valencia.
