Meet some of the Valencia CF players who have competed in the U-21 European Championship with Spain
Juan Mata and César Tárrega, the most recent scorers in this prestigious international tournament
Having missed out on the final games of the 2019/20 season due to injury, José Luis Gayà is just days away from getting back to a more typical routine with the return to preseason training. The fullback, currently enjoying a brief break along with his teammates, will shortly undertake his first sessions under new coach Javi Gracia ahead of an important season.
Still just 25 years old, Gayà is close to breaking into the Top 50 players with the most appearances in Valencia CF history. He has turned out 227 times for the club, and has recently overtaken such legends as his idol, David Villa (225), Pablo Aimar (216), Mauricio Pellegrino (213) and Miroslav Djukic (213). All signs point to him continuing to make his mark at his boyhood club, where his influence has increased to the point of becoming one of the captains.
Much has happened since his debut for the first team, including his first goal six years ago against Cordoba CF, Champions League appearances and a Copa del Rey win. In just a few days time, work begins once more in his quest for continued success at Valencia CF.
