Gayà: "I touched the ball and I didn't push Griezmann"
José Luis Gayà talked to VCF Media after the game against FC Barcelona, giving his side of a controversial penalty call made against him in the first half of the 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou.
"He gave the penalty and sent me off because he thought that I had pushed him (Griezmann). He didn't see any lower body contact. Then he was told by VAR that there wasn't a push, and to go and review the incident. That was when he saw that there wasn't a push, and that there was light contact," said the captain.
"In slow-motion and from the way the footage looks, it appears like it, but I got the ball and my momentum meant that I touched him. I clearly touched the ball and I put my hand on him. I didn't push him. At no time did I push him. The referee went to look at it and in the end he withdrew the red card."
