Some 91 of his top flight appearances have come in a Valencia CF shirt, beginning with his club debut in September of 2016 in which he scored against Real Betis in a 2-3 home defeat.
Prior to his arrival at Mestalla, he also featured in LaLiga for Racing Santander, Starting on February 26th, 2006, when he played in a 2-2 draw at Mendizorroza, he ran out 84 times for the northern Spanish club in league action. In the 2006/07 season he was the most prolific goalscoring defender in Europe's big leagues, with 9 goals.
Garay also played 25 games for Real Madrid, adding to an impressive tally that reached 200 this past Saturday.
