FAN STORY: África Nuño from Cádiz

Valencia CF's visit to Cádiz was special for one of the fans who were in the stands of the Nuevo Mirandilla: Africa Nuño. For this Valencianista, it was the opportunity to reconnect with her team after ten years without seeing them live.

Devotion to Valencia CF

I became a Valencia CF fan when I was 6 years old, because I saw David Villa in the European Championships. He was a Valencia CF player then. Even though he left for FC Barcelona, I stayed with the team.

Everybody who knows me, knows me because of Valencia CF. I've got a tattoo of the club and shirts that I wear on the street everyday. People joke about it a little, but it's great.

Watching the team in person

I last saw Valencia CF ten years ago, when they played Cadiz in the cup. I watched it from up there. As I was never able to go to the stadium, and Cadiz were in the Segunda División or Segunda B, I thought that I'd come in and see the players warming up. I was so emotional that I started crying.

Heading to Mestalla

My dream has always been to go to Mestalla. Just a month before the COVID-19 pandemic, I was set to go there to watch Valencia CF play Osasuna. God willing, I'll be able to watch them in February at the stadium. I'm excited, because I know people from Twitter who are fans and are really nice.

How she sees the team

That team have more desire under Bordalás, and they look more motivated. The fans are more excited. With the fans coming back to Mestalla, I'm sure that they will spur the team on a lot.
