Expanded groups and first double session on Tuesday
The Valencia CF squad were on double duty on Tuesday, undertaking more than one training session for the first time since their return from an enforced absence from the Ciudad Deportiva.
In addition to the added workload, there was also the novelty of expanded groups, as LaLiga protocol now allows for up to 14 players to train together. This offers up more options for the coaching staff as they draw up drills, coordinating attack and defence and getting the squad closer to match fitness.
The added numbers also allow for 7-a-side games on smaller pitches, more closely replicating a game scenario.
Progress has been steady and constant, and an increase in fitness has been apparent. The initial 45-50 minute sessions have been extended to close to 1.5 hours.
