Celades: "We are going to fight to the end to finish LaLiga as high up as possible"
Albert Celades reflected on Valencia CF's defeat to Eibar away from home in a post-match press conference.
The plan for the game
"Eibar are a very daring, brave side who demand a lot from you. They are always on top of you and don't give you time to think. At the start we tried to bring the ball out from the back, and we ended up playing a lot of long balls. We wanted to alternate those options and not be predictable in or play. We don't leave here with the win, which was what we wanted, and it's a defeat that hurts us."
Feelings after the game
"The feeling after a defeat is always unpleasant. We found it a little hard at the start, then the own goal did us damage. We played 20 good minutes at the end of the first half, but we lacked the final pass. We generated dangerous situations. In the second half we didn't generate as much, and there were a lot of stoppages."
Few comebacks since LaLiga resumed
"We got caught up too much in situations near to our own goalkeeper. We found it too difficult to bring the ball out. It wasn't a problem with our attitude. It's very difficult to win here, as history shows. We tried to adapt as best as possible, but the goal proved definitive. We've seen that, in the current context, whoever goes ahead has a big chance of winning. There have been very few comebacks and that's what happened again today."
The race for the Champions League spots
"There are fewer and fewer games, and fewer points in play. We are going to fight to the end to finish LaLiga as high up as possible. We're all finding it hard to win; there is plenty of equality and this will probably go on until the end. Now we have to prepare well and have our best game against Villarreal CF."
Difficulties winning away from home
"It's a reality. We have't been performing well away from home for a while. It's something that we have to improve if we want to be in the highest spots in LaLiga."
