oselu's last-gasp goal earned VCF Mestalla the win on Matchday 2 of the Premier League International Cup
VCF Mestalla will get their campaign under way this Saturday. They will host CD Castellón B at 7 pm kick-off time on Matchday 1 group VI of Tercera RFEF in a season with a host of novelties in the squad, the dugout, the competition format, the road to promotion and the presence of fans in the stands at the Antonio Puchades.
VCF Mestalla are coming into their season opener on the back of a good preseason run of four wins four draws and one loss against sides from upper divisions like Nastic Tarragona or Hércules CF among others.
“We’re really looking forward to competing and the start of the competition. The team look ready for it. We’re motivated about the season opener, claiming all three points and taking it on a game by game basis.
I’m really happy with the players and the squad I’ve got. Every one of them had a great season, we haven’t been hit by major injuries and overall we’ve got a fairly versatile team with many variants in positons and systems and it will make us a tough side to beat.
The season opener is one of the toughest matches after being the whole summer out of action and this fine-tuning may take you a few years, but we’re up for it to go all out against Castellón B. It’s going to be a long and hard-fought league with no easy opposition nor clear promotion candidate.
We’re delighted to see the public back at the Antonio Puchades which what we want, that the people, our fanbase can come down to the stadium to get behind the team.
Our objective for the season is clear a top five finish to have chances of promotion”.
