Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Both Valencia CF players make history, becoming the first Valencia CF players to win Olympic gold with Spain.
The Spanish national Olympic team won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The national team, with Diego López and Cristhian Mosquera representing Valencia CF, beat France (3-5) in the final played this Friday at the Parc des Princes (Paris)
The braces from Fermín López and Sergio Camello and a goal from Álex Baena helped them come from behind against a French side who took an early lead through E. Millot, pulled a goal back through M. Akliouche and even levelled the game to take it to extra time through Mateta's goal in stoppage time. Sergio Camello gave Spain the lead with a great lob over Restes in the 100th minute and in the 120th minute, he finished off the game with another fine goal. With this victory, Spain won their second Olympic gold medal in men's football, since Barcelona 1992.
Diego López and Cristhian Mosquera join Angulo and Albelda (Sydney, 2000), Ayala (Athens, 2004), Banega (Beijing, 2008) and Carlos Soler (Tokyo, 2020) in the select list of Valencianistas who have won an Olympic medal.
