The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Both Valencia CF defenders make the second shortlist for Spain's best academy players
Valencia CF defenders Cristhian Mosquera (2004) and Yarek Gasiorowski (2005) made the second shortlist of nominees for the 2024 Futbol Draft Awards. These awards recognise the best Spanish youth players.
On the one hand, it is worth highlighting that Mosquera has started the 24-25 season after winning Olympic gold with the Spanish national team and after consolidating his place in the Valencia CF first team last season under Rubén Baraja, demonstrating performance, personality and leadership in the Valencia CF backline. The VCF Academy-trained centre-back is also still in the running to win the Golden Boy 2024.
On the other hand, Yarek has been progressing by leaps and bounds in the Valencian club. The player from Polinyà del Xúquer, after 13 seasons of training at the VCF Academy, made his debut with the first team last season. He was also one of the mainstays of the Spanish Under-19 team, with whom he won the European Championship this summer.
In this second group of 55 players, in addition to the first team players, 3 players from the VCF Academy are also nominated for these awards: David Otorbi (2007), Raúl Jiménez (2006) and Vicent Abril (2005); and 2 players from Valencia CF Femenino: Ainhoa Alguacil Spanish Under-19s (2006) and Sara Tamarit (2005).
The Technical Committee of Futbol Draft has Javier Lasagabaster (General Director of Futbol Draft), Francis Hernández ( Youth setup Coordinator for the Spanish National Team), Vicente Blanco (Assistant to the coordinator of youth ranks of the Spanish National Team), Santi Denia (Spanish U-21 coach), José Lana (Spanish U-19 and U-18 coach), Hernán Pérez (Spanish U-17 coach), Markel Zubizarreta (RFEF Director of Women's Football), Ignacio Silván (youth football expert) and José María Movilla (Director of Institutional Relations of AFE).
Over the years, players with a Valencia CF background such as David Silva, Juan Mata or Ferran Torres have received the Futbol Draft award.
