Corberán: "I was excited about representing Valencia CF as coach"

Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán talks to VCF Media about his route to the role.
His childhood dream
“I was very motivated to achieve something that I have now achieved in a different way. I was very excited to arrive at Mestalla in another role. As a goalkeeper, obviously there was that excitement of being able to represent the club, and I do so today as coach.”
His switch to coaching
“I soon realised that the dream that I had as a child, to be a footballer and reach the top, was becoming more and more difficult to achieve, and at the same time I began to have the dream of transmitting my ideas, of helping the players and training them. Little by little, while I was playing, I realised that the passion for coaching was greater than the joy of playing. That was what made me, at 23 years old, hang up my gloves and dedicate myself intensely and professionally to being a coach.”
Coaching Valencia CF
“Everything is a process, experiences that one goes through. Obviously, being brought here to Mestalla and being able to represent Valencia CF is a source of great pride and at the same time, a great responsibility. As a Valencian, I know what this club means to the city, I know the passion Valencianistas have, and it is something that also fills me with responsibility.”
