Mikel Crespo, new coach of VCF Femenino
The Basque coach brings experience in women's football in Spain, having guided Deportivo Alavés to promotion to the top tier during the 2020-21 season
VCF Femenino and Mikel Crespo have joined forces, with the Basque coach taking over as the new coach of the Club’s first team for the 2025-26 season in the Primera RFEF.
In the words of the new coach:
"It’s going to be a demanding season, a very tough season, but in the end, we are Valencia and we always have to aim as high as possible. The demands will be at their peak, but that should excite us, motivate us, and help us bring out our best version—driven by the support of our fans, who I’m sure will be there cheering us on."
Mikel Crespo Aguilar (Galdakao, 29 October 1991) is a coach with solid experience and a notable career in Spanish women’s football.
In fact, under his leadership, Deportivo Alavés Gloriosas achieved historic promotion to the top flight of Spanish women’s football in the 2020-21 season. The following year, in 2021-22, the Club secured its place in the elite, finishing in 11th position.
"I came here once with Alavés," Crespo recalled. "I looked up at the stands and thought, wow—so many people, so many girls wearing Valencia CF shirts, that passion you can see from such a young age. When you cross that barrier onto the pitch, you can feel it, and for the team that kind of support is a real asset. I’m convinced that even though we’re in Primera RFEF, the football we play and the team’s effort will inspire the fans to be there for us."
Following his time at Deportivo Alavés Gloriosas, Mikel Crespo took over as coach of Fundación Albacete in the Primera RFEF in 2023.
