Two strikes late in the game earn a massive win
Valencia CF took a stunning LaLiga Matchday 27 victory against Deportivo Alavés, rallying late with two goals in the closing moments time to overcome their opponents. Javi Guerra, Cömert, and Hugo Duro scored for the home side at Mestalla.
The match began with a highly controversial penalty, protested by the crowd, after a slight touch by Guido Rodríguez on Toni Martínez in the area. Lucas Boyé took the penalty and scored to make it 0-1.
Three minutes after conceding, Valencia CF nearly equalised following a great run down the right flank by Thierry Correia, which Umar Sadiq almost finished off. A few minutes later, Ugrinic came close to leveling after a well-worked team move, but his shot was blocked by an Alavés defender.
Valencia CF created several chances in the area and continued to dominate possession. Despite their effort and determination, they were unable to equalise before halftime.

Hugo Duro came on as a substitute and, ten minutes later, Diego López, Raba, and Almeida all joined him on the pitch to try and mount a comeback.
In the 89th minute, Cömert equalised, off a rebound in the box (2-2).
With three minutes remaining, Hugo Duro won a penalty when he was grabbed in the box. He took the spot kick himself and scored, putting Valencia CF in front for the first time.
