Valencia CF welcomed RCD Mallorca on Saturday, March 30th at 6:30 pm kick-off time(CET) at Mestalla on Matchday 30 of LaLiga EA Sports.
Valencia CF had a slow start to the game with the opposition dictating play in the early goings amidst rainy weather conditions at Mestalla. Shortly after, Valencia CF were forced into an unfortunate injury substitution with Roman Yaremchuk making way for Diego López up front.
Fran Pérex tried his luck from the wing, but his effort flashed just wide of the mark. Moments later, Valencia CF thought to have been awarded a spot-kick for a handball against Mascarell. Alas, after a swift VAR review, the referee overturned his initial on-field decision in an eventful stanza at Mestalla.
The closing stages of the first saw an end-to-end frantic spell with both sides looking to break the deadlock. Diego Lopez saw a low drive fizz just past the post on the stroke of halftime.
The first half finished locked together at 0-0 with all to play for in the second half.
Valencia CF came out all guns blazing in the second half looking for the opening goal with Hugo Duro enjoying a gilt-edged cross-strike which flashed wide of the mark. Then his fellow teammate Pepelu forced grief into a save with a peach of a free-kick which was nearly pounced on the rebound by Peter Federico in a whirlwind start to the closing half.
Rubén Baraja made a double substitution over the hour mark where Foulquier and Peter Federico who made way for Javi Guerra and Jesús Vázquer respectively.
Valencia CF continued knocking on the door with Hugo Duro as the main attacking outlet for Valencia CF who an in-form Dominik Grief was constantly thwarting him as Valencia CF kept on enjoying forays into the opposition box.
Valencia CF made another double substitution with Fran Pérez and Hugo Guillamón coming off for Alberto Marí and Selim Amallah for the remainder of the half plus stoppage time left to play.
Both teams were hands on deck in a box-to-box ending to the game looking to snatch away all three points in the dying embers of the game. Alas, the scoreline remained unchanged and Valencia CF and RCD Mallorca played out an eventful goalless draw.
