Gayà: "We wanted to play a complete game like this"
The captain talks after a milestone appearance
Valencia CF captain José Luis Gayà spoke after the victory against Getafe CF, in which he entered the Top 10 of players with the most official appearances in the club's history.
A complete victory
We wanted to play a complete game like this, from start to finish. In the second half, as a result of the scoreline and how we were playing, we lacked a little bit of continuity, but the team made a really, really great effort in the first half. We were a little tired in the second half, but the team defended well, were strong in every challenge and on the second balls. Thefirst half was a complete performance, and that's the path we have to follow going into the final games.
The great dynamic
That's how beautiful football can be. Everyone thought the team were going to suffer a lot, and it was a reality back then. Doing what we have done requires a lot of work, because in the end, having suffered for so long, for so many games, even being 7 points from safety, and pulling it off the way we did, that shows that this team has a lot of courage, a lot of character. It was the complete opposite of what people thought and told us. We've remained strong and united through difficult times, and that's allowed us to take advantage of these moments to enjoy ourselves, and the team continue to grow.
New objectives
The feeling is the same as it has been for these last few matches. When we played Las Palmas, we practically secured our place in LaLiga, so we have to keep growing and keep looking forward. Even though we've done what we've done, which has been great, overcoming this difficult situation, playing for Valencia CF requires us to keep competing. In the end, we are Valencia CF, and this demands that we keep winning, going all out to win every match. It's with this mentality and this ambition that we have to go for the next games..
Getting into the Valencia CF Top 10 for official appearances
It's a very special and beautiful moment for me. In the end, I know Carlos Arroyo, I met him at VCF Mestalla, and he's also a spectacular person. I'm also very happy that he's up there with me, that he's participating in this. This belongs to everyone, and in the end, it's thanks to everyone, to my teammates. It's been very nice.
I'm looking to enjoy every game, to continue to have that consistency that I haven't had for a while, and now I'm happy. I think I have to continue in the same way.
