Cömert: "We competed well, but need to keep working"
The defender looks at the defeat in LaLiga
Eray Cömert reflected on the defeat to Real Madrid in LaLiga at Mestalla
A hard-fought match without a reward
We competed well. When we went 1-0 down, we kept playing and had chances to equalise. Ultimately, when you don't score against teams like Real Madrid, when you don't create many chances, they can end up scoring on a counter-attack in the last minute to make it 2-0. That's normal when you have your players up front, but we need to score earlier in games -because we created chances.
The attack
It's not easy when we're playing so defensively and then Hugo (Duro) is left all alone against three center-backs, but for me, he did very well in the first half because we had some chances to counter and we played out from the back well. We have to keep going; we have to work, take the good things from this game and keep working on the bad ones, and in a week's time we need the three points.
The derby
It's a derby, and in derbies you play to win. Nothing else will do. We are Valencia CF, we are the team that belong to Valencia, and we want to win this match. Whether it's away or at home, that's how we need to approach this game.
A message to the fans
Ultimately, we want three points to make the fans happy; the whole team want those three points. We have to keep going, we have to work hard, and we have to struggle for those three points.
